A German government spokesperson said on Wednesday that Russia's fading military prospects in the war with Ukraine makes it more likely that peace talks can be held.
"Russia cannot win this war militarily. This is becoming increasingly clear," the spokesperson said during a press conference.
"We want to work with our G7 partners to seize on this momentum and make a fresh start towards genuinely serious peace talks," he said, adding, however, that Russia has not shown a willingness to enter into negotiations.
