The Jharkhand Assembly on Tuesday passed the supplementary budget of Rs 3,908.63 crore, amid a walkout by the main opposition party, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). The supplementary budget, which was placed in the House on Monday, was passed by voice vote.
Ravindra Nath Mahato of the JMM, who questioned the need for a supplementary budget, moved a cut motion against it. As Speaker Dinesh Oraon took up the supplementary budget for voting, the JMM members staged a walkout in protest.
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Nilkanth Singh Munda claimed that the BJP-led NDA government would win at least 70 of the 81 seats in the upcoming assembly elections on the basis of its performance. He said that the JMM had failed in its role as an opposition.
Munda said the people of the state are firmly behind the government as it has done "immense" developmental work. PTI PVR RBT RBT.
