UN Security Council reform more urgent than ever, says German official

Reform of the United Nations Security Council is more urgent than ever given growing impatience in the Global South and the fact it is currently blocked due to the war in Ukraine, a German government official said on Wednesday.

It is time to move from abstract talk of reform to writing a concrete text, the official said, noting that Germany would continue to push for a permanent seat on the council given the weight of its contributions.
