First Pre-Monsoon Showers Bring Respite to Mumbai

Several parts of Mumbai received their first pre-monsoon showers of the season on Wednesday morning, bringing much-needed respite from the scorching heat and persistent humidity.

Residents woke up to a cloudy sky, with light rains beginning around 7 am in various parts of the city, including Dadar, Kandivali, Magathane, Oshiwara, Wadala, and Ghatkopar. Rainfall ranged from 4 mm to 26 mm within an hour, according to a civic official.

Despite the sudden showers, road traffic and train services continued to operate normally, the official added. Typically, the monsoon arrives in Mumbai by the second week of June. Last month, unseasonal rain with gusty winds caused a tragic hoarding collapse in Ghatkopar, resulting in multiple fatalities.
