CWC and IIT Roorkee Join Forces to Combat Water Management and Urban Floods

The Central Water Commission (CWC) and IIT Roorkee have embarked on a strategic collaboration by signing two pivotal agreements aimed at addressing urgent water resource management and urban flooding issues.
Signed by CWC Chairman Kushvinder Vohra and IIT Roorkee Director Professor Kamal Kishore Pant, the pacts symbolize a concerted effort to develop innovative solutions for efficient water management and flood resilience. The first agreement tackles water resources management, emphasizing irrigation efficiency, comprehensive water accounting, and mapping under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana.
The second agreement focuses on urban flooding, utilizing data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to produce accurate flood susceptibility maps and resilience mechanisms. This collaboration supports government strategies for enhanced urban infrastructure and disaster preparedness, leveraging IIT Roorkee's expertise and CWC's practical insights.
