A tragic bus accident in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district has led to the unfortunate death of a newborn and left over 30 passengers injured, police confirmed on Sunday.

The incident took place around 11 am near the Lalkhadan flyover under the Torwa police station limits as the bus was en route from Bilaspur to Sarangarh town, according to an official statement.

Passersby immediately called for an ambulance and alerted the local police authorities. The injured were rushed to the Chhattisgarh Institute of Medical Sciences (CIMS) and other nearby hospitals.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his condolences via a post on 'X', mentioning the sad news of a girl's death and injuries to numerous other passengers. He has directed the district collector to ensure all necessary arrangements for the injured.
