Uttar Pradesh Sets Record with 36 Crore Saplings in Mega Eco-Drive

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a groundbreaking initiative to plant over 36 crore saplings across the state. Speaking at a mega plantation campaign, he emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for citizens to plant a tree in honor of Mother Earth on June 5, World Environment Day.

Highlighting the adverse effects of global warming, Adityanath pointed to excessive rains in Nepal and Uttarakhand, causing floods in 24 districts of UP and affecting over 20 lakh people. He warned of potential water crises and famines due to extreme weather conditions.

Since 2017, the BJP-led government has planted 168 crore saplings, with 75-80% survival, contributing significantly to environmental conservation. Farmers involved in the campaign are receiving grants and carbon credits, further incentivizing their participation in this vital effort.

Adityanath also inaugurated the Shakti forest initiative, aimed at preserving India's river culture and promoting environmental sustainability through tree planting.
