Crocodile Sighting in Mumbai's Mithi River Sparks Concern

A crocodile has been spotted in the Mithi river near the business hub of Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai, according to a forest official. Residents are advised not to panic.

Atul Kamble from the Wildlife Animal Protection and Rescue Association (RAWW) reported the sighting to the Mumbai Forest Department. The river, despite its polluted appearance, forms part of a natural habitat where such sightings are possible, stated Pawan Sharma, founder and president of RAWW, who is also an honorary wildlife warden.

Sharma clarified that the crocodile might have been displaced due to heavy rains causing lakes to overflow or it might naturally inhabit the river. He added that primary evaluations do not indicate a need for immediate intervention unless the crocodile is found outside the river.
