Heavy Rains Cause Water-Logging in Madhya Pradesh

Heavy rainfall across Madhya Pradesh on Thursday caused significant water-logging. The India Meteorological Department has forecast further heavy to very heavy rains with thunderstorms for Friday. Sluice gates of dams were opened, and videos showed flooded drains. Key districts experienced considerable rainfall throughout the day.

Heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday led to widespread water-logging, causing disruptions and concerns across the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and lightning for Friday as well.

To manage rising water levels, officials opened the sluice gates of several dams. Various videos circulating on social media depicted flooded drains and the subsequent challenges. Notably, in Katni district, railway staff were observed patrolling flooded tracks and guiding locomotive drivers.

According to IMD's Bhopal Centre, Satna and Ratlam districts received 88 millimeters and 80 millimeters of rainfall, respectively, between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM on Thursday. Bhopal recorded 25.6 millimeters between 8:30 AM and 8:30 PM. The IMD has warned of similar weather conditions, with isolated places in the state likely to experience heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on Friday.
