Arunachal Pradesh Partners with NGO for Wetland Conservation

Arunachal Pradesh government has signed an MoU with the NGO Wetlands International South Asia for the conservation of high-altitude wetlands. This partnership aims to protect biodiversity, sustain fisheries, maintain water balance, and prevent floods. Chief Minister Pema Khandu and WISA President Sidharth Kaul emphasize the project's importance.

The Arunachal Pradesh government has entered into an agreement with the NGO Wetlands International South Asia (WISA) for conserving high-altitude wetlands, officials reported on Wednesday.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed in New Delhi between the State Wetland Authority of Arunachal Pradesh and WISA.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu highlighted the significance of the initiative via a post on X, affirming the state's commitment to protecting its water bodies. 'Wetlands support biodiversity, sustain fisheries, maintain water balance, and help prevent floods. Let us protect them!' WISA President Sidharth Kaul expressed the NGO's dedication to collaborating with the state on all aspects of wetland conservation.
