At least seven people lost their lives on Sunday amid torrential monsoon rains that triggered flash floods and roof collapses in northwest Pakistan, according to authorities.
Fatalities were reported in the Tank and Karak districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) confirmed that three people died when the roof of their home collapsed due to heavy rainfall in Tank district. Meanwhile, four people were swept away by floods in Karak district.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur expressed his deep sorrow over the tragic deaths and announced compensation for the affected families. He also instructed district administrations to offer maximum assistance and relief to those impacted by the rains.
