Torrential Monsoon Rains Claim Lives in Northwest Pakistan
At least 11 people have died in northwest Pakistan over the last 24 hours due to torrential monsoon rains, causing flash floods and roof collapses. The hardest-hit areas are Tank and Karak districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Provincial authorities are providing assistance and relief to affected families.
At least 11 people died in the last 24 hours due to torrential monsoon rains that caused flash floods and roof collapses in northwest Pakistan on Sunday, authorities said.
Officials reported seven deaths in the Tank and Karak districts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority confirmed that three people perished when the roof of their house collapsed due to heavy rains in Tank district.
Additionally, four individuals were swept away by floodwaters in Karak district.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur expressed grief over the fatalities and announced compensation for the affected families. Gandapur also directed district administrations to offer the best possible assistance and relief to those impacted by the rains.
