Union Cabinet Approves 2 Crore More Houses under PMAY-G

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the construction of 2 crore additional houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G). The initiative aims to benefit 10 crore people by 2028-29 with an outlay of Rs 3,06,137 crore.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, greenlit the proposal from the Department of Rural Development for the construction of two crore more houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) on Friday.

The Cabinet sanctioned the 'Implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin during FY 2024-25 to 2028-29,' which specifies the construction of two crore houses with an existing unit assistance of Rs 1.20 lakh in plain areas and Rs 1.30 lakh in the North Eastern Region and Hill States, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, an official statement said.

The continuation of the scheme from April 2024 to March 2029 was also approved by the Cabinet. It will have a total outlay of Rs 3,06,137 crore, with Rs 2,05,856 crore as the central share and Rs 1,00,281 crore as the state's share.
