Torrential Rains Devastate Huludao: Lives Lost and Millions in Damage

Torrential rains have devastated the city of Huludao in northeast China's Liaoning province, leaving at least 11 people dead and 14 others missing. The heavy rainfall has caused extensive damage to infrastructure, including roads and bridges, with total losses amounting to USD 1.44 billion, according to official reports on Saturday.
The recent storm particularly impacted Jianchang County and Suizhong County. Roads, power lines, communication networks, houses, and crops have been severely affected. Efforts are underway to restore roads and communication networks while searches for missing individuals continue.
Preliminary estimates indicate that 188,757 people in Huludao have been affected, causing significant infrastructural damage including nine national and provincial roads, 210 rural roads, and 187 bridges. In response to the floods, China's National Commission for Disaster Prevention has activated a level-IV disaster relief emergency response.
