China has sounded the alarm as Super Typhoon Yagi made landfall on Hainan island, bringing with it wind speeds exceeding 234 km/h, inciting widespread concern for both life and property.
With the National Meteorological Centre issuing a red alert, the Ministry of Water Resources warned that rivers in Hainan and Guangdong provinces face potential flooding from heavy rainfall over the weekend.
In preparation, Guangdong province has evacuated more than 570,000 residents, suspended numerous waterway routes and high-speed rail services, and closed schools in ten cities. The government has raised flood emergency responses and dispatched work teams to guide efforts.
