Super Typhoon Yagi devastated south China's Hainan island province with heavy rain and fierce winds, leaving four dead and 95 injured, according to local authorities on Saturday.

The typhoon made two landfalls, first in Hainan and later in Guangdong province, prompting Chinese President Xi Jinping to call for intensified disaster relief efforts.

Power outages, uprooted trees, and flooded roads plagued popular tourist destinations, affecting over 1.5 million households. High-speed rail and ferry services are gradually resuming, as are flights at major airports. Over 700,000 residents in Guangdong were relocated, while extensive damage and communication network disruptions were reported in Hainan.

The storm also impacted the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, causing more evacuations and widespread power outages. Authorities have issued flood alerts as several rivers swelled from the heavy rains. Relief efforts continue as rains and winds are expected to subside from Saturday night.
