A tragedy unfolded on Tuesday as a section of an under-construction highway in South Korea collapsed, leading to the unfortunate deaths of three workers and leaving six others injured, according to officials.
The accident happened in Cheonan, located about 90 kilometers south of the capital, Seoul. The National Fire Agency detailed how ten workers were on-site during the collapse, with many trapped in the ensuing rubble.
While two individuals succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, the search-and-rescue mission continues, with five in serious condition and one worker still unaccounted for. The cause of the collapse remains unclear as Acting President Choi Sang-mok has called for all resources to be deployed for rescue efforts.
