Cyclone Garance descended upon La Reunion, a French overseas territory, bringing with it devastating wind speeds of up to 155 kph. The cyclone tore off roofs, severed power lines, and cut off access to drinking water for numerous residents.

Patrice Latron, the island's prefect, reported no casualties as the cyclone made its destructive journey across the island. Initially striking the northern part, it moved south, leaving 145,000 households without power and around 10% of the population without drinking water. Although the storm's immediate danger passed, the prefecture maintained a mandatory stay-indoors order.

In Mauritius, the situation stabilized enough for authorities to reopen the airport, marking a return to some normalcy after the threat diminished.
