In an ambitious move towards enhancing urban transportation, the Delhi government, in partnership with the Centre, has embarked on a project to develop water tourism on the Yamuna River. The initiative aims to transform the Sonia Vihar-Jagatpur stretch into a vibrant waterway, enhancing connectivity and attracting tourists.
During a ceremony at Asita Park, Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the project's potential to decongest city roads and reflect a modern identity for Delhi. Eco-friendly boats will be introduced, signaling the city's commitment to sustainable travel and urban beautification, they highlighted.
With Prime Minister Modi's vision backing the plan, efforts are underway to restore the ecological health of the Yamuna alongside improving public transport. The government plans to introduce solar energy solutions and promote private partnerships to ensure the project's success.
