On Friday, an earthquake rattled southwest China's Yunnan province, causing strong tremors and prompting residents to flee their homes in search of safety, according to official media reports.
The state-run Xinhua news agency confirmed that there have been no casualties reported in Yunnan following the quake. Many residents in Kunming, the provincial capital, rushed outdoors when they felt the earth shaking at 2:20 p.m. local time.
Li Zhihao, from Jinghong city in Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, recounted feeling tremors lasting nearly a minute. The epicenter, according to the China Earthquake Networks Centre, was pinpointed at 21.85 degrees north latitude and 95.95 degrees east longitude, striking at a depth of 30 kilometers.
