Maharashtra Approves Landmark Infrastructure and Educational Initiatives

The Maharashtra cabinet sanctioned Rs 20,787 crore for the Maharashtra Shaktipeeth Expressway, bridging eastern territories with Konkan. The 802-km route cuts travel time from Nagpur to Goa significantly. Accompanying decisions include revised student allowances and amendments to the GST Act for broader public sector coverage.

The Maharashtra government has greenlit the Rs 20,787 crore Maharashtra Shaktipeeth Expressway project, expected to connect eastern Maharashtra with southern Konkan by spanning 12 districts. Chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the cabinet session also included strategies to address land acquisition concerns among local farmers.

Linking key religious and historical sites, the 802-km expressway will slash travel time between Nagpur and Goa from 18 hours to eight, offering significant benefits for pilgrims and tourists alike. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation will oversee the project, with financial backing from HUDCO.

In parallel moves, the cabinet addressed educational disparities by nearly doubling allowances for Scheduled Tribes students. Amendments were also made to the GST Act for broader inclusivity in tax settlements, alongside infrastructural investments enhancing urban development initiatives.
