The Gautala Autramghat wildlife sanctuary in Maharashtra will cease tourist activities from July 1 to September 15, marking the breeding season for local wildlife, officials announced on Wednesday.

This measure, affecting other sanctuaries like the Pench Tiger Reserve, is aimed at safeguarding animal habitats during the monsoon period, as stated by Deputy Conservator of Forest Mohan Naikwadi.

Famed for its diverse wildlife across 64,000 acres, Gautala is part of a broader initiative to protect over 240 bird species and various mammals, including leopards and wild boars, enhancing preservation efforts within Maharashtra's natural reserves.
