The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has inaugurated a permanent monitoring facility in SAS Nagar, Mohali, Punjab, aimed at improving year-round management of paddy stubble, crucial for mitigating air pollution in the region.

Situated at the Kisan Vikas Chamber in Kalkat Bhawan, the cell will devise plans, engage with farmers, and track the supply chain of paddy straw to end-users, ensuring its continuous and assured use.

The facility, part of a larger effort in collaboration with Punjab and Haryana's agriculture departments, will also monitor air pollution in NCR areas of Haryana and coordinate biomass co-firing in thermal power plants.
