Two orphaned Asiatic black bear cubs, initially discovered in Assam's Dissoi Reserved Forest, have been successfully released into the wild at Dehing Patkai National Park. Forest officials confirmed the translocation on Wednesday.

The cubs, found alone and estimated to be between four and six weeks old, were handed over to the local forest authorities before being taken to the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC) in Kaziranga. Under the care of veterinarian Bhaskar Choudhury and his team, the cubs were treated for dehydration, nurtured, and gradually prepared for a return to the wild.

Following a detailed evaluation, Dehing Patkai National Park was chosen as the ideal release site, due to its rich vegetation and minimal human interference. Approved officially on June 4, the release took place on August 17, offering the cubs a promising future.
