India has secured the ninth position globally in terms of total forest area and has maintained its third rank in annual forest area gain, as per a report by the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
The Environment Ministry attributes this achievement to India's large-scale afforestation and community-driven forest protection initiatives, highlighting the effective leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav, this advancement from the tenth to the ninth rank represents a significant achievement in sustainable forest management and environmental conservation.
