India is rapidly establishing itself as a premier destination for international engagement and investment in the space sector, according to Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh. On Tuesday, Singh highlighted significant transformations in this sector during the India International Space Conclave.
Singh attributed the sector's evolution to reforms initiated since 2019, including the opening to private entities, the creation of IN-SPACe as a regulatory body, and the 2023 space policy rollout. These changes have fostered an environment conducive to innovation and investment.
Noteworthy contributions include the implementation of space technology in governance and citizen services, with tools like Gati Shakti for infrastructure and satellite-aided disaster management. Additionally, Viasat announced a collaboration with BSNL to advance satellite communication solutions for uncrewed aircraft in India.
