Cyclone Ditwah Batters Tamil Nadu: Coastal Areas Brace for Impact
Cyclone Ditwah caused severe rainfall and winds in Tamil Nadu, disrupting life across coastal districts and the Cauvery delta. The state government activated disaster response teams, and precautionary measures were implemented. Cyclone Ditwah lashed Tamil Nadu's coastal regions and Cauvery delta, with Ramanathapuram and Nagapattinam districts hit hardest. Gusty winds and continuous rain disrupted normal life in Rameswaram.
State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister K K S S R Ramachandran stated that while it's unclear if the cyclone will hit near Chennai, the government is prepared for rescue efforts. Over 28 disaster response teams are on standby, with assistance from the Air Force and Coast Guard.
Sixteen livestock perished, 24 huts suffered damage, but no human fatalities have been reported. Officials report heavy rainfall could further affect agriculture and transportation.
