In a recent escalation of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, at least seven individuals were reported injured following a drone strike on an apartment block in the northeastern city of Okhtyrka, Sumy region. This attack is part of a pattern of near-daily assaults experienced by the region since February 2022 when Russia initiated its invasion.
Governor Oleh Hryhorov reported on Telegram that the injured were hospitalized, with two requiring admission for further care. The drone strike left extensive damage to the multi-storey building. Many residents sought safety in the basement during the air-raid alert, while emergency services intervened to rescue others from the upper floors.
With the conflict nearing its fourth year, both sides have consistently denied targeting civilians, yet the human toll continues to rise with thousands, predominantly Ukrainians, having lost their lives. As of now, the reported incident remains unverified independently by Reuters, and there has been no official statement from Moscow regarding the strike.
