As human-wildlife conflict rises in Uttarakhand, a team of senior officials visited Pauri district to address the escalating threat. In Rudraprayag, over a dozen vehicles have been secured to safely transport students to schools.
Recent attacks by wildlife, including bears, tigers, and leopards, in various regions of Pauri have been fatal, prompting Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to deploy teams for immediate action. R K Sudhanshu, Principal Secretary (Forests), visited the family of Rajendra Nautiyal, recently killed by a leopard, presenting a government compensation check.
Officials discussed preventive measures and engaged villagers for input on conflict mitigation. In Rudraprayag, the District Magistrate organized free transportation for over 200 students from wildlife-affected villages, a proactive measure to safeguard children.
