Sri Lanka's Resilience Amid Cyclone Ditwah: India Leads International Aid
India has been at the forefront of providing relief and assistance to Sri Lanka in the wake of Cyclone Ditwah's devastation. Aircraft and ships from the Indian Air Force and Navy have delivered essential supplies and evacuated survivors. The international community is urged to support Sri Lanka's recovery without exacerbating its economic challenges.

In the aftermath of Cyclone Ditwah, Sri Lanka has received crucial support from India, with the Indian Air Force and Navy spearheading relief operations. Two IAF helicopters concluded their mission by airlifting critical supplies and evacuating affected individuals, while the Indian Navy Ship Gharial delivered 700 tonnes of essential relief materials from Tamil Nadu.
Sri Lanka's Air Force expressed deep gratitude for India's swift responses, acknowledging the role of IAF Mi-17 V5 crews in enhancing the nation's disaster response. Over 260 people were evacuated, and approximately 50 tonnes of supplies airlifted. Meanwhile, India has committed further aid to help devastated communities.
Cyclone Ditwah's impact has been severe, with over 638 death tolls and hundreds missing amid widespread flooding. The humanitarian need is urgent, as Sri Lanka struggles financially after one of its worst crises. International partners are urgently called upon to assist in the country's recovery without deepening its debt crisis.
