The Karnataka government has taken a decisive step towards restructuring its administrative framework by tabling four key amendment bills in the state Assembly. These bills aim to modify existing administrative structures and enhance the authority frameworks across various sectors in the state.
The introduction of the Bombay Public Trust (Karnataka Amendment) Bill seeks to reassign roles by appointing the regional commissioner of Belagavi as its Charity Commissioner, with other key positions filled by district deputy commissioners and other officials.
Additionally, the amendment to the Karnataka State Road Safety Authority Bill proposes the removal of the upper limit imposed on one-time cess collection during vehicle registration. Such a move is poised to improve infrastructure funding and road safety measures significantly.
Simultaneously, proposals to transform the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Heritage Area Development Authority are underway by including prominent officials like the Director of Town and Country Planning and the Chief Town Planner of Greater Bengaluru Authority in its operations.
Finally, the Bengaluru Metropolitan Land Transport Authority Bill seeks to incorporate mayors and commissioners from newly formed municipal corporations into its structure, ensuring comprehensive representation and more robust regional governance.
