Kargil Delegation Seeks Infrastructure Boost in Meeting with Home Minister

A high-level delegation from the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss infrastructure developments. Their demands included operationalising flights, establishing educational institutes, enhancing healthcare facilities, and advocating for district status for Sankoo and Shakar-Chiktan subdivisions to improve regional connectivity and growth.

In a significant development, the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to push for major infrastructure projects. Led by Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, the delegation emphasized the need for enhanced connectivity in Kargil.

Key demands included the extension of Kargil's airport runway and the operation of civil flights, which are crucial during winter when road routes are blocked. The delegation also advocated for district status for the populous Sankoo and Shakar-Chiktan subdivisions.

The council urged the establishment of a 200-bedded hospital, an Engineering College, and an Agricultural University to boost education and healthcare. Highlighting agricultural prospects, they called for a boost in tourism and agriculture with a special financial package and infrastructure support.
