Rail Link to Sikh Heritage: Connecting Takht Sri Damdama Sahib

The Indian government has approved a railway link connecting Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo to other Sikh Takhts. This project, costing Rs 1118.47 crore and spanning 42.9 km, aims to boost religious and regional connectivity in Punjab, enhancing transportation and infrastructure development across Mansa and Bathinda districts.

The sacred site of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo is set to receive a railway link, sanctioned by the Union Ministry of Railways. Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu announced the project, emphasizing it's not just a railway line but a symbol of faith and pride for Punjab.

This new Raman Mandi-Sadda Singhwala New Broad Gauge Rail Line Project falls under the larger Mansa-Bathinda Doubling Project. Spanning 42.9 km, the development will cost Rs 1118.47 crore, averaging Rs 26.07 crore per kilometer. The line will traverse Mansa and Bathinda districts, boosting transportation and regional development.

Requiring 192.42 hectares of land, the project will introduce six stations, including Laleana, Talwandi Sabo, and Jaga Ram Tirath, among others. It will feature modern infrastructure with electric traction and an advanced signaling system, marking significant progress in connecting Sikh heritage sites, which past governments have neglected.
