A fire broke out on the sixth floor of a residential building in the Muhana area, engulfing two apartments on Saturday. According to police, approximately 20 residents were safely evacuated from the building.
In a dramatic rescue, an unconscious man was discovered by a head constable during the evacuation and was swiftly carried out of the apartment and taken to a nearby hospital. SHO Muhana Police Station, Gur Bhupendra Singh, confirmed the fire's origination on the sixth floor and the subsequent challenges faced by the rescue team due to heavy smoke.
Several fire tenders were dispatched, managing to bring the situation under control after about 20 minutes of efforts. In a precautionary measure, the electricity supply to the affected apartment was cut off shortly after the fire alarm was raised, ensuring no further hazards to the building's residents.
