A devastating fire on Wednesday at Basanti Villa Apartment in Laxmisagar claimed the lives of three individuals, including a young girl, according to police reports.
The blaze ignited around 4 a.m. on the ground floor, quickly entrapping two elderly residents, Biswajit Behera, 70, and Sulata Behera, 65, who perished at the scene. The young girl, Tejeswani Behera, succumbed to her injuries at Capital Hospital.
Approximately 30 residents were swiftly evacuated, with the local fire brigade extinguishing the flames. Authorities are investigating a possible electrical short circuit near the building's car parking area as the cause.
