Chinese Super League club Shandong Taishan have confirmed the signing of Son Jun-ho after the midfielder led Jeonbuk Motors to last year's league title in South Korea.

The 28-year-old was named the K-League's most valuable player for the 2020 campaign as Jeonbuk won the domestic title for a fourth season in a row. Son joins a Shandong side that features former Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini and which won the Chinese FA Cup last season to qualify for the Asian Champions League.

However, Shandong's preparations for the upcoming competition were thrown into disarray last week when the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) kicked the club out of the 2021 edition of the continental club championship. The club has until later this week to appeal the decision to remove their license to play in the competition due to what the AFC termed "overdue payables".
