The New York Jets had already ruled out leading rusher Isaiah Crowell for Saturday's home game against the Houston Texans, but now it appears he's done for the season.

The team is placing Crowell on injured reserve with a toe injury, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Saturday's absence will be the first of Crowell's career after playing in 77 consecutive games. He has 685 yards and six touchdowns this season.

Crowell set a franchise record with 219 rushing yards against the Denver Broncos earlier this season but has topped 50 just once over the past eight games.

Coach Todd Bowles said Elijah McGuire (158 yards) and rookie Trenton Cannon (80) will get heavy work in the backfield.

Leading receiver Quincy Enunwa will also miss Saturday's game with an ankle injury.

Enunwa has a team-best 38 receptions but hasn't recorded a 100-yard game this season. His 449 yards are second to Robby Anderson's 492.
