PCB to Revamp Selection Committee After T20 World Cup Debacle

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is set to revert to its old selection committee system following the disastrous T20 World Cup performance where Pakistan failed to advance past the group stage, losing to the USA and India. The previous experiment of having no chief selector has been deemed unsuccessful.

A trusted source disclosed to PTI that the board plans to reinstate the traditional model, which includes a chief selector, two or three selectors, but excludes the captain and head coach from the selection meetings. Former Test bowler Wahab Riaz, known for his close ties with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, is expected to be appointed as the new chief selector.

Additionally, the PCB will scrutinize central player contracts initially awarded by former Chairman Zaka Ashraf. Changes could see players demoted or dropped due to underperformance, and other perks are also under review. This move marks a significant shift as the board seeks to improve future team outcomes.
