England clinched a commanding win by an innings and 114 runs over West Indies in the first test at Lord's on Friday, with James Anderson taking a wicket on the third day to conclude his stellar international career.

Anderson appeared uncharacteristically emotional before play commenced as he received a guard of honour and standing ovation from the crowd in his 188th and final test. However, the 41-year-old seamer quickly got down to business, claiming his 704th test wicket by having Joshua Da Silva (9) caught behind in his second over of the day.

Anderson's fourth wicket of the match dented West Indies' hopes of forcing England to bat again. Alzarri Joseph (8) followed, attempting to fight back with aggressive shots before succumbing to Gus Atkinson, who took ten wickets in his debut test.

Shamar Joseph (3) was bowled out by Atkinson, with Gudakesh Motie (31 not out) showing some resistance and nearly handing Anderson his 705th wicket, which was secured later by Atkinson as Jayden Seales (8) was caught out. The match ended with West Indies all out for 136.
