FC Goa Signs Rising Star Sanatomba Singh Yanglem for Upcoming ISL Season
FC Goa has signed 18-year-old defender Sanatomba Singh Yanglem for the upcoming Indian Super League season. Yanglem, a Reliance Foundation Young Champs academy graduate, joins as the seventh signing. He previously helped his former team win the 2018-19 sub-junior I-League and excelled in the 2022-23 Mumbai Football Association Super Division.
FC Goa announced on Tuesday the acquisition of defender Sanatomba Singh Yanglem ahead of the Indian Super League (ISL) season.
Yanglem marks the Gaurs' seventh signing for the 2024-25 season, joining goalkeeper Lara Sharma, defenders Sangwan and Muhammad Hammad, midfielders Iker Guarrotxena and Dejan Drazic and forward Alan Saji.
The 18-year-old Reliance Foundation Young Champs academy graduate signed a multi-year contract with FC Goa. Yanglem has been instrumental in RFYC's success, including winning the 2018-19 sub-junior I-League and finishing as runner-up in the 2022-23 MFA Super Division. In 42 appearances, he tallied four assists and contributed to 18 clean sheets.
Yanglem expressed excitement about joining the team, highlighting the mentorship from senior players Aakash Sangwan and Jay Gupta. FC Goa head coach Manolo Marquez praised Yanglem's technical skills, defensive solidity, and aggressive play, noting his promising future in the sport.
