Former England skipper Eoin Morgan has dismissed media rumors suggesting he would replace Matthew Mott as the coach for the national limited-overs cricket team. Speaking to Sky Sports, Morgan expressed his desire to coach in the future but stated the timing was not right due to family commitments.
Under Mott's leadership, England failed to defend their 50-over World Cup title in 2023 and faced disappointing exits in the T20 World Cup. The team's lackluster performance included losses to Afghanistan, India, and Australia. England's qualification for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 also hangs in the balance.
Morgan, considered one of England's greatest cricketing leaders, reaffirmed his commitment to spending more time with his young family. He is credited with transforming England's aggressive playing style post the 2015 ODI World Cup. England's next white-ball series will be against Australia in September, featuring three T20Is and five ODIs.
