The Olympic Challenge: Grant Holloway's Hurdles to Break the World Record

Grant Holloway, the three-time world champion, stands as the favorite for Olympic gold in the 110 metres hurdles. However, breaking the existing world record may be a daunting task, and former record-holder Colin Jackson shared his thoughts on Saturday about the challenge that lies ahead.

Holloway's best run this year was 12.86 seconds in Eugene, Oregon, making it the world lead. Still, Jackson noted that the intense pressure of the Olympic Games could affect Holloway's performance. 'It's really difficult to break world records at the Olympic Games. It's really difficult,' said Jackson.

Despite Holloway's confident outlook and his achievement of breaking Jackson's 27-year-old world record in the 60 metres hurdles in 2021, he dismissed the fuss over breaking the 110 metres hurdles world record at the upcoming Games. 'The world record is overrated,' Holloway commented at the Monaco Diamond League. Jackson, who won silver at the 1988 Seoul Games, recognized Holloway's potential but expressed doubts about breaking the record here.
