Indian shooters Rajeshwari Kumari and Shreyasi Singh, who began the women's trap qualification event on Tuesday, failed to reach the final at the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024. On their Olympic debut, both shooters scored 113/125 after five rounds, ranking 22nd and 23rd, respectively. Only the top six advanced to the final.
Notably, Rajeshwari scored a perfect 25/25 in the third round, marking the only flawless performance by an Indian shooter in this event so far. In the men's category, Swapnil Kusale clinched seventh place in the men's 50m 3P qualification round, securing his spot in the final. Kusale, making his Olympic debut, scored 590-38x, while teammate Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar ranked 11th with 589-33x, missing the cut for the final.
The men's 50m 3P final is scheduled for Thursday at 1 PM IST, where India hopes to clinch its third medal at the Paris Olympics. Earlier, shooter Manu Bhaker won a bronze in the women's individual 10m air pistol event, while the duo of Manu-Sarabjot bested South Korea 16-10 for another bronze in the mixed team event.
Bhaker's journey to her bronze medal in the 10m air pistol event was historic, becoming the first Indian woman in two decades to reach an Olympic shooting final since Suma Shirur in 2004. South Korea's Ye Jin took gold with an Olympic record score of 243.2 points, while Kim Yeji secured silver with 241.3 points. Bhaker aims for more success in the 25m pistol event.
