Manu Bhaker's dream of securing a treble at the Olympic Games ended in heartbreak as she narrowly lost the bronze medal tie-shoot to Hungary's Veronika Major in the women's 25m sports pistol event on Saturday.

In a nail-biting final, Bhaker initially led among the eight shooters but couldn't maintain her position and ultimately finished fourth. The 22-year-old Indian still accomplished a significant feat, returning home with two bronze medals from the women's 10m air pistol and mixed team 10m air pistol events alongside partner Sarabjot Singh.

The contest was intense; Bhaker shot a 28 in the final to tie at third with Major after eight rounds. The shoot-off saw Bhaker miss two out of five shots, scoring three points, while Major secured four hits to clinch the third spot. Bhaker's narrow miss continues the trend of Indian shooters finishing just off the podium at major events.
