Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday underscored the dual benefits of sports as a personal health enhancer and a future-shaping mechanism, thanks to government sports-friendly policies.

Briefing attendees at the state-level Senior Prize Money Men's Wrestling Championship during Nag Panchami at the Gorakhnath Temple Mela Ground, Adityanath emphasized sports' significance in Uttar Pradesh.

He announced large-scale employment opportunities for medal-winning athletes in police and government departments, alongside reinforced sports infrastructure and substantial rewards to boost athletes' morale.

Commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dedication to sports, Adityanath noted the creation of a supportive environment for athletics. He celebrated achievements like Neeraj Chopra's silver medal in javelin at the Paris Olympics and the Indian hockey team's medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which was honored by the state government in Lucknow.

Olympic hockey player Lalit Upadhyay has been appointed Deputy SP in the Uttar Pradesh Police, alongside commendable performances by other athletes like Rajkumar.

The state government is committed to providing respectable jobs for athletes.

Marking Nag Panchami and the centenary celebration of the Kakori Train Action, Adityanath paid homage to the heroes of the Kakori incident for their invaluable contributions. He urged leveraging youth talent for societal and national development.
