BCCI secretary Jay Shah has announced that a final decision regarding fast bowler Mohammed Shami's participation in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be made following a fitness report from the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Shami, recovering from an ankle injury sustained last November, has resumed bowling and aims for a September comeback during India's home Test series against Bangladesh. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar highlighted that Shami is gradually increasing his workload without pain, setting the first Test as a crucial milestone.

Shami’s impressive record in Australia bolsters hopes for his potential participation. In addition, VVS Laxman will continue as NCA head, extending his tenure beyond its September expiration, confirmed Shah. (ANI)
