Sri Lanka Preps for England Test Series Amid Stark Condition Differences

Sri Lanka's cricket team, led by skipper Dhananjaya de Silva, is bracing for the challenging conditions in the UK ahead of their three-match Test series against England. The first Test match will commence on Wednesday and continue through Sunday.

At a pre-match press conference, Dhananjaya discussed the team's practice match against England Lions, noting that Sri Lanka did not field their full-strength team. 'The conditions are quite different to Asian countries. We wanted to play a few matches, but that's what we get. We didn't go with the full-strength team. We have tried out a few players as well. The result didn't go our way, but we had the preparation, I think. It'll work in this match,' Dhananjaya told ESPNcricinfo.

Despite conceding a seven-wicket defeat to the England Lions in Worcester, Dhananjaya emphasized the value of the practice match for training purposes. 'Our mental state is good. Yes, we lost the practice match, but that match is there for our training. Within that, we got the preparation we wanted,' he added. The second Test will be held at Lord's starting August 29, with the final match at Kennington Oval on September 6.

England, buoyed by a recent 3-0 series sweep against the Windies, are eager to maintain their momentum as they face Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka squad includes notable players such as Dimuth Karunaratne, Kusal Mendis, and Angelo Mathews.
