Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer has publicly called out anti-doping authorities over what he perceives as a double standard in handling cases, specifically spotlighting world number one Jannik Sinner. This criticism follows Sinner's avoidance of suspension despite two positive tests for the banned substance clostebol earlier this year.

Federer, who has won 20 Grand Slam titles, described the situation as 'tricky' and 'a nightmare for every athlete.' He maintains trust that Sinner did not intentionally use the banned substance but stressed the damaging noise such controversies create in the sport. 'We don't want this kind of news, whether or not he did something wrong,' Federer told NBC's Today show.

The tennis great acknowledged the frustration over potential inconsistencies in how athletes are treated and emphasized the need for transparency. 'The question is about the apparent inconsistency in his treatment while the authorities were not 100% sure. But it is what it is; we have to trust the process of everyone involved,' Federer said. Federer is in New York promoting his book and is attending the evening session of the U.S. Open, marking his first visit to Arthur Ashe Stadium since his retirement.
