Neeraj Chopra, India's celebrated javelin thrower, has secured a spot in the upcoming Diamond League season finale set for September 13 and 14 in Brussels. This follows his fourth-place finish in the overall standings after 14 series meets around the globe.
Despite battling a persistent groin injury, Chopra accrued 14 points from second-place finishes in Doha and Lausanne. He skipped the Zurich meet, leaving him two points shy of Czechia's Jakub Vadlejch. Grenada's Anderson Peters and Germany's Julian Weber lead the standings with 29 and 21 points, respectively.
Chopra, who boasts a gold from Tokyo 2021 and a silver from Paris 2023, aims to regain full fitness and improve his technique. The Diamond League finale, offering a Diamond Trophy, $30,000 prize money, and a wild card for the World Athletics Championships, will conclude Chopra's challenging season.
