The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is all set to host a 'Connection Camp', a pivotal meeting and workshop of its top officials, which will chart the future course of Pakistan cricket. Sources revealed to Geo News that prominent attendees will include white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten, red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie, senior cricketers, and officials, alongside heads of high-performance centers and international and domestic directors. PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will preside over the camp.
The meeting, slated for September 22, will also see separate discussions among the red-ball and white-ball coaches. Sources indicated that the agenda includes potential captaincy changes across all formats of the game.
Speculation is rife about wicketkeeper batter Mohammad Rizwan replacing Babar Azam as the white-ball captain, while Test skipper Shan Masood's leadership will also be under review. These developments follow Pakistan's plummet to eighth in the latest ICC Test Rankings and a 2-0 series defeat to Bangladesh, marking their lowest Test ranking since 1965.
Pakistan's woes continue as they prepare to host England for a three-match Test series, part of the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. The first Test is slated for October 7 in Multan, followed by the second on October 15 in Karachi, and the final match on October 24 in Rawalpindi.
